History of First Baptist Church Milton
Our church is the oldest Baptist church in this area of the Florida Panhandle. The exact date of the founding of the First Baptist Church is not known but the minutes of the former Bethlehem Baptist Association show that the church petitioned that association for membership in 1845.
Since its founding, First Baptist Church has occupied four different sanctuaries.
The church has been the "mother" of seven other churches in Santa Rosa County and is a leader in Cooperative Program giving and other types of missionary support.
We are still making history in those challenging times. In 2003, we opened the new sanctuary which we paid off in May 2008. We have renovated our old sanctuary to provide a beautiful place for adult classes, a pleasant place for small group fellowship, and a chapel for weddings, funeral, children's church, and large group meetings. In 2009, we rededicated this building as Bamberg Chapel in honor of our Lord Jesus and two of our choicest servants: Betty and Joe Bamberg. Dr. Bamberg was our Pastor from 1947 until 1980. Dr, Bamberg served as pastor Emeritus until his death in 2007.
The vision of proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the whole world still remains strong after more than 160 years!
We are a member of the Santa Rosa Baptist Association , the Florida Baptist Convention , and the Southern Baptist Convention .
We are "based" in Northwest Florida Panhandle, in city of Milton, Florida.
